About the Program

Our Mission

Leadership Montana exists to develop leaders committed to building a better Montana through knowledge, collaboration, and civility.

Who We Are

Leadership Montana is a non-profit collaboration of leaders from business, labor, non-profit organizations, education, healthcare and government coming together to form a strong partnership for the betterment of Montana.
At the heart of our work is an eight-month educational program which offers participants a unique experience that develops strong leadership skills along with personal and professional growth. Our curriculum, Leading in Montana, is designed exclusively for Leadership Montana and includes lessons on civil discourse as well as:
  • Leading Organizations
  • Leading Teams
  • Communication and Conflict
  • Leading Through Change
  • Building Coalitions
  • Leading Montana into the Future
Each of the seven sessions focus on business and policy education, addressing the many facets of Montana's diverse interests:
    • Agriculture
    • Natural Resources
    • Education
    • Tourism & Recreation
    • Non-profit Organizations
    • Energy
    • Small Business
    • Health Care
    • Industry
    • Culture & History
Participants gain a deeper awareness of issues affecting our state, build powerful connections with their classmates and a network of committed alumni who live and work throughout Montana.

To date, Leadership Montana has over 500 graduates, including alumni who are leading Montana in a number of ways. From City Hall to the halls of the capitol – and in boardrooms and classrooms across the state – our alumni are making our communities stronger by using the skills learned in Leadership Montana.
